Copyright and License Statement
NJEE operates under copyright and licensing frameworks that balance author rights protection with maximum research dissemination and reuse capabilities.
Copyright Retention: Authors retain full copyright ownership of their published works. NJEE requires only non-exclusive licensing for publication and distribution purposes, ensuring authors maintain control over their intellectual property while enabling wide dissemination through NJEE platforms.
License Framework: All NJEE publications utilize Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY) licensing providing:
- Unrestricted distribution and sharing rights
- Adaptation and derivative work creation permissions
- Commercial use authorization without additional approval requirements
- Attribution as the sole requirement for any use
Author Permissions: Copyright retention enables authors to:
- Self-archive in institutional or disciplinary repositories without embargo periods
- Share through academic social networks and personal platforms
- Include in teaching materials and course packets
- Use in grant applications and institutional evaluations
- Create translations and adaptations for different audiences
- Authorize third-party use for educational or commercial purposes
Third-Party Content: Authors remain responsible for securing appropriate permissions for copyrighted materials including figures, tables, extensive quotations, or datasets owned by other parties. NJEE provides guidance on fair use principles and permission acquisition processes but requires author warranty regarding rights clearance.
License Enforcement: NJEE actively monitors license compliance and provides support to authors in protecting their rights while ensuring proper attribution in reuse cases. Violation reporting mechanisms enable rapid response to unauthorized use or attribution failures.
Commercial Partnerships: NJEE may enter licensing agreements with commercial partners for enhanced distribution while maintaining open access principles and author rights. All such agreements preserve CC BY licensing terms and do not restrict author rights or open access availability.
